UBX has formed a strategic partnership with MediCard Philippines Inc., a prominent health maintenance organisation (HMO), to enhance health access and convenience for members.
This collaboration will see MediCard utilising the UBX comprehensive payment gateway BUx and the transact-now-pay-later solution Splix, aiming to streamline premium payment collections and offer more flexible payment options for healthcare coverage.
The partnership is designed to improve the customer experience for MediCard members, offering a new level of convenience in acquiring health coverage products.

UBX president John Januszczak stated,
“By leveraging each of our strengths—UBX’s innovative open finance solutions and MediCard’s wide network of healthcare partners and affiliates—we are helping make healthcare more accessible and less intimidating to Filipinos.”
BUx will enable MediCard members to pay for their coverage through various payment channels, including online banking, credit/debit card payments, e-wallets, and over-the-counter transactions.
Additionally, BUx boasts an extensive network of over fifty thousand touchpoints, such as pawn shops, department stores, and rural banks.
Members can also benefit from the insure-now-pay-later solution, Splix, provided by UBX. This solution aims to offer greater financial flexibility without compromising healthcare needs.

MediCard chief executive Julian Mengual remarked,
“Our strategic alliance with UBX allows us to accelerate our goal of bridging the healthcare gap in the Philippines. With UBX’s innovative digital solutions and our extensive HMO expertise, we are poised to make significant strides in making healthcare more accessible, convenient, and affordable for all Filipinos.”
The integration of these solutions aims to make healthcare more accessible and manageable, demonstrating a significant advancement in the way healthcare services are provided to Filipinos.
