Pomelo is enhancing its remittance services to the Philippines by introducing Pomelo Points, a rewards program that allows customers to earn points on every dollar sent. This initiative combines US consumer credit with international money transfer, empowering US immigrants to build their credit while supporting family and friends overseas.

Through partnerships with Mastercard and Coastal Community Bank, Pomelo offers a unique platform that integrates these crucial financial services through the Pomelo Points program.

The Pomelo Points will enable customers to accumulate points with each transfer to the Philippines. Through its partnership with Grab, Pomelo allows customers to redeem these points for digital gift codes.

The gift codes can be used for a variety of services. These include rides and food delivery, adding extra value to every remittance. Customers will earn one point for every dollar sent using a debit card and double the points when using the Pomelo Mastercard. Such efforts incentivise the use of their credit-building card.

“Today marks another industry first,” says Eric Velasquez Frenkiel, founder and CEO of Pomelo. “We’re introducing the only points program in remittance. By combining zero-fee transfers with the ability to earn points, we’re helping customers send extra joy to their loved ones, all while building their financial future.”

This new program complements Pomelo’s existing suite of innovative remittance solutions. They include “send now, pay later” options, credit-building tools, and secure bank transfer services. Pomelo’s commitment to providing comprehensive financial solutions tailored to the needs of immigrant communities is evident in its diverse range of offerings.

Pomelo Points are currently available to all Pomelo customers sending money to the Philippines. It is within plans to expand the program throughout 2025.
