PSA and GCash Link Up for Easy National ID and Fintech Access
Through a co-location agreement, individuals can now register for their National ID and open a verified GCash account at the same time at PhilSys-On-Wheels sites, creating a "one-stop shop" experience.
Through a co-location agreement, individuals can now conveniently register for their National ID and open a fully verified GCash account simultaneously at any PhilSys-On-Wheels location. This creates a convenient “one-stop shop” experience, streamlining the process and addressing significant barriers to participation in the digital financial ecosystem, such as identity verification challenges.
This streamlined approach facilitates faster onboarding, giving users instant access to essential financial tools available via GCash, including savings, credit, insurance, and digital payments. Oscar Enrico Reyes Jr., President and CEO of G-Xchange Inc. (GCash), stated that the initiative aligns with their shared goal of extending financial inclusion by providing a combined venue for ID registration and account opening.
The partnership is set to be further strengthened through the integration of the PSA’s National ID eVerify Authentication Services directly into the GCash app.
This eVerify project is a joint initiative involving the PSA, the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), and selected pilot partners, including GCash.
National Statistician undersecretary Claire Dennis Mapa commented on the significance, highlighting it as a clear demonstration of how government and private sector collaboration can generate a meaningful impact.
