Billease and Maya Business have entered into a partnership that will see Billease’s ‘Buy Now, Pay Later’ (BNPL) service integrated into Maya’s payment gateway and point-of-sale (POS) terminals.

A key aspect of this partnership is its utilisation of QRPh, the Philippines’ national QR code standard. This enables any customer with a QRPh-activated banking or e-wallet application to scan a code, make a payment, and then divide the cost of their purchase into instalments through Billease.

The BNPL feature will be accessible across thousands of online and physical stores that use Maya Business for their payment processing.

Kurt Molina, Head of POS Product at Billease, stated that this integration will allow retailers and merchants using Maya’s payment solutions to offer customers an instalment payment option, thereby making purchases more affordable and accessible.

“By tapping into QRPh, we’re able to provide an open-loop BNPL solution that works across different banks and e-wallets, ensuring more Filipinos can access flexible payment options without requiring a credit card,” he emphasised.

When making a purchase, customers at Maya-powered POS terminals or online checkouts can select Billease, scan the QRPh code, and instantly arrange to pay in instalments. For purchases up to PHP 2,000, a 0% interest rate is available if paid within one month. Larger amounts can be repaid over longer periods at low-interest rates.

Peter Thaddeus Cruz, Head of Enterprise at Maya Business, remarked that the collaboration aims to provide merchants and their customers with a seamless and flexible payment method, irrespective of their bank or e-wallet provider.

“By adding the Billease option into Maya’s ecosystem and leveraging QRPh, we’re expanding financial access and helping businesses grow by making payments more convenient for their customers,” he added.

Billease and Maya Business, through this initiative, will enhance the checkout experience for consumers and provide merchants with a new strategy to boost sales and improve affordability.
