The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) and GCash, a prominent finance application in the Philippines, have partnered to integrate the National ID eVerify system for more accessible and swifter e-wallet account verification.
This collaboration aims to streamline identity checks and broaden access to digital financial services for more Filipinos, supporting the country’s financial inclusion agenda.
This initiative enables Filipinos to use their National ID, whether the physical card, paper, or digital version, to verify their GCash accounts, thereby gaining access to essential financial services. The National ID system functions as a universal proof of identity recognised by both government agencies and private institutions.
Over 92 million Filipinos have registered for the National ID, with more than 50 million IDs already delivered. The integration allows millions of these Filipinos to easily authenticate their GCash accounts and securely access their financial offerings.
PSA Undersecretary Claire Dennis S. Mapa, PhD, National Statistician and Civil Registrar General, highlighted the benefits of this integration.

“The National ID and its authentication services ensure that transactions are more seamless, secure, and inclusive for both the public and relying parties,” he stated. He added, “By integrating the National ID with financial institutions like GCash, the PSA empowers more Filipinos with access to essential financial services and equips organisations with streamlined customer onboarding and enhanced trust and security.”
Ren-Ren Reyes, President and CEO of G-Xchange, Inc., the operator of GCash, emphasised the role of this cooperation in strengthening digital financial inclusion.

“This collaboration with PSA and DICT is a testament to the commitment of GCash to making financial services more accessible. By allowing users to verify their accounts with their National ID, we are breaking barriers and ensuring that more Filipinos can seamlessly access safe and reliable digital transactions,” Reyes said.
Automating identity verification through eVerify is expected to accelerate the Know Your Customer (KYC) process, bolster fraud prevention, and ensure accurate identity validation.
This integration represents a notable step in simplifying onboarding while maintaining secure transactions for all GCash users.
