Digital bank Maya and the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) have partnered to launch the “Championing the Pinoy Athlete” programme, an initiative designed to modernise and support the local sports community.
The collaboration aims to digitalise several of the PSC’s core processes. A key feature of the partnership is the automation of allowance disbursements to athletes and coaches through Maya’s platform.
The programme will also establish a transparent digital system for National Sports Associations that aims to improve governance and accountability within the sports community.
Beyond operational changes, the initiative will promote financial wellness for athletes, coaches, and PSC employees.
Maya will integrate a suite of financial tools into its services for the sports community, including savings, credit, insurance, and investment products, to help provide long-term financial security.
Both organisations also plan to develop ways to engage fans and stakeholders at key national sporting events, such as the Batang Pinoy and the Philippine National Games.

“This partnership is about more than technology—it’s about giving our athletes the support they deserve both on and off the field,” said Shailesh Baidwan, Maya Group president and Co-Founder of Maya Bank.
The collaboration supports the PSC’s mandate to foster excellence in sports governance through innovation and community engagement.
