GCash has announced it will fully comply with a new Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) directive mandating the suspension of in-app access to gaming services.
The e-wallet operator will implement the necessary changes within 48 hours. It is in line with BSP Memorandum No. M-2025-029, which applies to all BSP-supervised institutions.
The primary change for users will be the suspension of access to gaming platforms through GLife. GLife is a marketplace feature within the GCash app. This will take effect after 8 PM on Saturday, August 16.
GCash has advised users on how to manage their funds in light of the new rule. Customers with funds in their gaming accounts can withdraw them back to their GCash wallet via the GLife feature until the 8 PM deadline on August 16.
After this time, users can only access and manage their remaining funds directly through the respective gaming merchant’s website.
In a media advisory, GCash stated it supports the move towards stronger safeguards on online gaming. The company affirmed its commitment to working with regulators and industry partners to protect the financial health of its users.
With this directive, the central bank is focusing on the risks of integrating online gambling and financial applications. The BSP designed these changes to promote a safer digital environment by delinking payment apps from direct access to gaming websites.
