Starting October 1, 2025, all direct cash-in transactions to the mobile wallet GCash will be routed through the InstaPay payment gateway.
The change complies with a Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) directive requiring all online banks and e-wallets to adopt InstaPay to ensure faster, safer, and more transparent fund transfers across the country.
In an advisory, GCash confirmed that it will not charge any additional direct cash-in fees under this new model.
However, it cautioned users that partner banks may adjust their own service fees in relation to the shift. GCash also advised its customers to check with their banks for updated charges and transition schedules.
One of the country’s major banks, the Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI), announced that it will implement a standard PHP 15 service fee for all cash-in transactions made to GCash and other e-wallets via InstaPay.
BPI stated that the fee covers additional expenses, including clearing costs from BancNet, the designated clearing switch operator for InstaPay.
BPI also noted that customers have lower-cost alternatives. Transferring funds directly from the BPI mobile app to GCash via InstaPay will have a lower PHP 10 fee.
For a zero-fee option, BPI clients can open a BPI #MySaveUp account through the GCash app, transfer funds from their BPI app to this GSave account for free, and then move the money into their GCash wallet.
