RCBC and PearlPay Deal Aims to Put QR Ph in Every Local Shop
PearlPay-enabled merchants can now accept interoperable QR Ph payments from users of RCBC's Pulz and DiskarTech apps, as well as other participating banks and e-wallets.
The collaboration targets local government units, schools, clinics, and micro and small enterprises.
Under the agreement, PearlPay operators can now accept interoperable QR Ph payments, the national standard for QR transactions launched by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas.
This initiative aims to help community-based businesses, such as small schools and local shops, join the formal digital economy.
Users of RCBC’s digital platforms, Pulz and DiskarTech, as well as customers of other banks and e-wallets participating in QR Ph, can now pay PearlPay-enabled merchants by scanning their QR codes.
Lito Villanueva, RCBC Executive Vice President and Chief Innovation and Inclusion Officer, commented on the new partnership.

“[This] aligns with our vision of open finance via API banking, where digital innovations connect ecosystems… and drive inclusive growth for freelancers, gig workers, and everyday entrepreneurs,” Villanueva said.
PearlPay Chairman Jonas Bill Martinez emphasised the collaboration’s role in supporting small businesses.
He identified RCBC as an ideal partner to scale QR Ph acceptance nationwide.
Jonas also explained that by working together, they are reducing costs and improving safety. He added that this also helps small businesses build a digital footprint that unlocks access to credit and growth.
Sparky Perreras, Co-Founder and President of PearlPay, added that the system allows businesses to go digital with no extra hardware and no friction.
The partnership follows other RCBC digital initiatives, such as its MySSS Mastercard Debit Card.
