GCash, through its in-app platform GInsure, has partnered with the Bank of the Philippine Islands‘ BPI MS Insurance to launch PasaHERO Protect, an accident insurance plan aimed at Filipino commuters.

The policy provides coverage for accidents occurring on all forms of public transport in the Philippines, including jeepneys, buses, trains, and ride-hailing services (TNVS).

Available on the GCash app, PasaHERO Protect provides coverage of up to PHP 500,000 for death or permanent disability resulting from an accident on public transport. It also offers up to PHP 250,000 coverage for other types of accidents.

The plan, which starts at PHP 15 per month, includes a double indemnity feature for accidents that occur on public transport.

Users can also purchase the policy for up to five other people, including friends or family, through one GCash account.

“We believe protection should be part of everyday life… a basic need that every Filipino and their families can access,” said Wilfrido de Ocampo, Head of GInsure. “Together with BPI MS Insurance, through PasaHERO Protect, we’re making insurance more relevant, affordable, and inclusive for the daily realities of commuters.”

Noriyuki Kobayashi, President and CEO of BPI MS Insurance Corporation, added that the goal is to bring coverage closer to the daily habits of Filipinos, especially those who rely on public transport.

The partnership is intended to offer a financial safety net tailored to the risks of daily travel. Commuters can access the plan by navigating to the GInsure section within the GCash app.
