GCash has introduced a new crypto educational resource guide for beginners within its app, designed to help Filipinos navigate the cryptocurrency market.

The “A Beginner’s Guide to Cryptocurrency” aims to address the knowledge gap among potential investors who remain cautious despite high awareness of digital assets.

According to a 2025 survey by Consensys, 96% of Filipinos are aware of cryptocurrency, with over half expressing an intent to invest within the year.

To support this interest, the finance app released the exclusive guide written and illustrated by Luis Buenaventura, the Head of GCrypto.

The guide is divided into eight chapters and adopts a narrative style to break down complex technical concepts.

It explains fundamentals such as Bitcoin, digital wallets, and market volatility using practical analogies like inflation and daily budgeting.

“Storytelling makes learning personal and relatable. By grounding financial concepts into everyday examples, we aim to make complex topics like crypto approachable for anyone,” said Buenaventura.

Beyond technical definitions, the content emphasises responsible trading.

It encourages users to build traditional savings and maintain diversified investments, viewing crypto as a complement to a broader financial foundation.

The guide also covers alternative cryptocurrencies, including Ethereum and stablecoins, while addressing the psychological aspects of investing, such as discipline and long-term thinking.

“Understanding why crypto matters is the first step to learning how to use it wisely,” Buenaventura noted. “By helping them understand the balance of ‘high risk, high reward,’ we aim to set realistic expectations before they dive into actual investing”.

The guide is accessible through the GCrypto feature on the GCash app. The platform allows fully verified users to trade selected cryptocurrencies with a minimum investment of PHP 200.
