UnionBank recorded the highest volume of Visa payments in the Philippines for 2025 after reaching two million credit cards in circulation.

This development reflects a shift among consumers toward digital credit transactions for everyday expenses.

The recent growth in card distribution was driven by digital onboarding processes that expanded consumer access to credit.

UnionBank Head of Cards and Loans Mukul Sukhani stated that the bank aims to support customers with practical transaction tools.

“As more Filipinos become mindful on how they manage their budgets, this recognition highlights the growing importance of secure and flexible payment options in daily life,” he said.

Visa Philippines Country Manager Jeffrey Navarro noted that the global network enables fast and secure digital transactions.

“UnionBank Visa Cardholders benefit from a global network that helps them transact with confidence—whether in-store, online, or abroad,” said Navarro.

Cardholders increasingly use their accounts for groceries, electronics, and online shopping platforms like Shopee and Lazada.

The bank provides financial management features, including cashback rewards and flexible instalment plans.

Users can access dining discounts of up to 50% at over 1000 partner restaurants nationwide.

The cards also offer travel benefits such as discounted airfare and up to 30% off at participating global hotel properties.

The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas regulates the operations of the commercial bank.
