Atome Philippines has closed a PHP 5 billion wholesale facility with Asia United Bank (AUB), adding a local-currency funding line to support its next phase of growth in the country.
The facility will primarily back the continued expansion of the Atome PayLater Anywhere Card, now issued to more than 3 million Filipinos.
Specifically, up to 80% of cardholders are using credit for the first time, and 65% are women, with most using the card for everyday essentials such as groceries, food, household items, and telco and utility bills.
Adoption has spread well beyond Metro Manila to customers across Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.
Beyond the card, Atome’s Philippine product line includes lending, savings, and insurance. These products target Filipinos who remain underserved by traditional banking channels.
A Bet on Credit Access and Financial Inclusion
AUB said the peso-denominated facility reflects its confidence in Atome’s credit profile. It also adds a sizeable local-currency line to Atome’s funding base.
Ernesto Uy, Executive Vice President and Account Management Head at AUB, said the deal advances financial inclusion in the Philippines. It does so, he added, while keeping to the bank’s usual credit standards.
Wilfredo Rodriguez Jr., AUB’s Executive Vice President and IT and Operations Head, added that the facility reflects the bank’s commitment to supporting fintech platforms.
He said such platforms help strengthen the Philippine financial ecosystem.
Atome Philippines President and Country Manager Christian Quiros said the facility validates the company’s market position. He added that it delivers competitive, peso-denominated funding at scale.

“Built on AUB’s deep understanding of our credit profile, this facility strengthens our ability to grow while diversifying our funding mix with competitive local capital,” he said. “It supports the Philippine economy and our mission to responsibly serve millions of underbanked Filipinos seeking accessible financial tools.”
The deal adds to a string of funding lines Atome has arranged for its Philippine business.
