Rizal Commercial Banking Corp. (RCBC) has become one of the first banks to go live on Direct Debit PH, a recurring payment facility regulated by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP).

The system lets businesses collect recurring payments directly from a customer’s bank account under a one-time authorisation, even when the biller and customer bank with different institutions.

RCBC Head of Transaction Banking Group Martin Roberto G. Tirol said the bank’s early participation reflects its push to strengthen its payments and cash management business.

“This is also consistent with our strategy as a payments ecosystem builder, connecting businesses, consumers, and financial institutions through infrastructure that is secure, scalable, and interoperable,” Tirol said.

Once a customer authorises a mandate, the system processes payments automatically on a set schedule.

Billers no longer need to chase due dates or initiate each transaction manually.

The BSP built the facility under its National Retail Payment System framework. It works across participating banks, so businesses can collect from customers regardless of where they hold an account. RCBC connects to Direct Debit PH through a direct system-to-system link.

This lets the bank process recurring payment instructions automatically, without manual intervention.

For corporate billers, a single customer mandate can cover collections across multiple banks. This cuts down on late payments and removes the manual work of managing separate arrangements with each institution.

“For customers, payments happen automatically on schedule once they authorise a mandate, and they retain full control at all times, including the ability to cancel or update their arrangement whenever they need to,” Tirol said.

The bank also offers a broader suite of corporate cash management services, covering collections, payments, liquidity and other financial operations.
