The system asks for a Selfie Scan during higher-risk loan requests, confirming that the person applying is the actual account holder.
The check is adaptive, triggering mainly when a transaction looks risky, so most loan requests continue without the extra step.
The feature builds on GCash’s existing Security Center, which already lets users lock their accounts, lock specific funds, and manage subscriptions from within the app.
Fuse has also added a Loan Scam Insurance benefit to GLoan Protect, covering up to PHP 10,000 for users who end up with a loan taken out through unauthorised account access, phishing, or similar fraud.
GLoan Protect already included free health coverage through GInsure, underwritten by Oona Insurance.
Borrowers taking out at least PHP 500 through GLoan qualify for a daily hospitalisation allowance of at least PHP 500, or up to 10% of their loan amount, if hospitalised for three days or more.

Users can check their GLoan Protect status or file a claim through the GInsure section of the GCash app.
