The integration supports the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas’ digital payments transformation goals and opens cross-border commerce to the 2.5 million merchants and SMEs already accepting QR Ph.
Merchants don’t need to change anything on their end.
Consumers using Alipay+ partner apps can scan existing QR Ph codes to pay directly, giving Filipino businesses, particularly micro, small and medium enterprises, a way to serve international travelers and digital consumers without new infrastructure.
The integration follows a strong year for QR Ph.
Digital payments now account for 64.69% of retail transaction volume in the Philippines, and QR Ph transactions surged more than 13 times in 2025, according to the BSP’s 2025 Report on E-Payments Measurement.
It also builds on recent momentum in the QR Ph ecosystem, following BSP and PPMI’s July 2026 rebranding of QR Ph and InstaPay QR alongside the launch of Direct Debit PH ACH and InstaPay for Business.
Carmelita Araneta
“QR Ph has played an important role in advancing a more connected and interoperable digital payments ecosystem in the Philippines,” said Carmelita Araneta, General Manager of PPMI. “Through our partnership with Alipay+, we are extending that connectivity beyond our borders, enabling Filipino merchants, particularly SMEs, to serve international customers more seamlessly.”
Danny Chung
“Our role is to make it as easy as possible for a customer to pay with the mobile app they already use, while helping the merchant participate in a much bigger marketplace,” said Danny Chung, General Manager of Alipay+ Global Growth Center at Ant International.
QR Ph joins more than 10 national QR schemes Alipay+ has connected across Asia, the Middle East and Latin America.
Alipay+ says it now connects more than 2 billion consumer accounts and over 50 mobile payment providers across more than 220 markets globally.
