The digital microloan programme, which SSS first unveiled in September 2025 alongside UnionBank, is now live for qualified members a year after it was announced.
LoanLite is the first SSS loan facility for employed members that doesn’t require employer certification, normally a requirement for conventional SSS short-term loans.
Applications and related transactions happen entirely within the UnionDigital app, with eligible applications potentially processed and approved within minutes.
Qualified members can borrow PHP 1,000 to PHP 20,000, depending on the average of their 12 latest monthly salary credits, with repayment periods of 15, 30, 60 or 90 days at an 8% annual interest rate, roughly 0.67% per month.
To qualify, members first need at least 36 total contributions, including six posted within the past 12 months. Secondly, there’re no past-due short-term loans or an active SSS Micro Loan.
And lastly, an enrolled online account with the participating bank, among other requirements under SSS Circular No. 2026-005.
UnionDigital Bank collects repayments through automatic debit from the account where it credited the loan proceeds.
SSS said UnionDigital Bank is the first of its four participating financial institutions to make LoanLite available through a digital platform, and that it continues working with the other three to do the same.
It also reminded members to use only the official UnionDigital app when applying, warning against third parties offering to process loan applications on members’ behalf.

“SSS LoanLite is part of our broader effort to expand access to formal financial services and protect our members from predatory lending,” said SSS President and Chief Executive Officer Robert Joseph M. de Claro.
SSS aims to grow LoanLite’s loan book to PHP 40 billion within two years as more participating banks come online.
