Four more banks in the Philippines are expected to support Apple Pay around November, bringing the total to eight by the end of 2026.
Mastercard Philippines Country Manager Jason Crasto shared the timeline with reporters, as The Chronicle reported.
Crasto declined to name the incoming banks, but said he expects more to join early next year, BusinessWorld noted.
He spoke after Mastercard signed a memorandum of understanding with the Department of Trade and Industry’s E-commerce Bureau on Monday to help micro, small and medium enterprises build their digital capabilities.
Four Banks So Far
Apple Pay launched in the Philippines in August with Chinabank, GoTyme Bank, Metrobank and UnionBank as its first partner banks.
Eligible Visa and Mastercard cardholders from these banks can pay with their iPhone, Apple Watch, iPad or Mac.
Shortly after the launch, Crasto told Rappler that “most of the other banks” in the country would go live by the end of 2026.
The latest timeline points to eight banks by year-end, with further additions in 2027.
Crasto did not share Apple Pay transaction figures, saying it is still too early to gauge adoption. He expects the service to gain momentum next year.
Other Banks Preparing
Some banks have signalled they are getting ready.
In November 2025, BPI President and CEO TG Limcaoco said the bank expected to be ready to support Apple Pay and Google Pay in 2026, as Philstar wrote at the time.
By comparison, Google Pay launched in the Philippines in November 2025 with a wider initial group of partners, including Chinabank, EastWest, GCash, GoTyme, Maya, RCBC and UnionBank, Khaleej Times reported.
