Palawan Group of Companies (PGC) secured three major awards at the 12th Annual International Finance Awards 2024, held at the Waldorf Astoria Bangkok.
The company was recognised for its contributions to financial inclusion and services in the Philippines, winning Most Innovative E-Wallet App for PalawanPay, Best Pawning Company, and Most Innovative Remittance Company.
Established in 2013, the International Finance Awards recognise leadership, innovation, and contributions to market development, with a focus on sustainability, financial inclusion, and technological advancement.
Organised by UK-based International Finance magazine, the awards celebrate organisations and individuals driving positive change in the global financial sector.
Winners are selected through a research-driven process that evaluates their achievements.
Palawan Pawnshop, named Best Pawning Company, is known for offering transparent collateral evaluations and competitive rates.
Its high appraisal values and low-interest rates have strengthened its reputation as a trusted provider of financial services.
Palawan Pawnshop-Express Pera Padala, which operates over 10,000 outlets nationwide, was recognised for its role in improving financial access for Filipinos, particularly in remote and underserved areas where traditional banking services remain limited.
PalawanPay, awarded Most Innovative E-Wallet, has grown rapidly, surpassing 20 million users in two years.
The platform offers cash-in and cash-out services at competitive rates and provides in-app access to features such as pawn renewal, microinsurance, and gold and jewelry transactions.
It also enables users to make QR Ph code payments and claim international remittances, enhancing its functionality as a digital financial tool.

Bernard Kaibigan, Group Marketing Head at PGC, said the awards highlight the company’s efforts to expand financial inclusion.
“For almost 40 years, we’ve made it our mission to provide affordable, fast, and hassle-free services.
Whether through Palawan Pawnshop, Palawan Express Pera Padala, or PalawanPay, we’ve strived to make financial services accessible to every Filipino, especially the unbanked and underbanked.”
PGC offers a wide range of financial services beyond pawning and remittances, including bills payment, microinsurance, electronic mobile phone loading, money exchange, ATM withdrawals, and cash disbursements.
The group has over 70,000 branches, Pera Padala outlets, and PalawanPay Money Shops nationwide.
PGC’s digital expansion includes PalawanPay, an e-wallet app that facilitates remittances, bill payments, and QR transactions.
