Landbank has partnered with the Philippine Sports Commission to improve financial inclusion and banking services within the local sports sector, as the state-owned institution will now allow any young athlete to open a personal Visa debit account.
This new banking arrangement specifically supports national competitors who are currently under the age of eighteen.
Landbank President and Chief Executive Officer Lynette V Ortiz formalised the agreement alongside sports officials on 11 May 2026.
Ortiz stated that the financial institution remains committed to providing secure products that properly enable local competitors.
The initiative ensures that these minors can receive their training allowances and incentives much faster and more transparently.
Account holders will gain direct access to their funds anytime and anywhere, including during overseas international competitions.
The latest banking initiative includes strict security safeguards that require proper authorisation from a parent or guardian.
Applicants must present a valid identification document alongside a formal certification from the Philippine Sports Commission.
The parent or guardian must also sign the terms and conditions for the debit card before the branch approves the account.
Once approved the financial institution will issue a card designed for secure local and international electronic transactions.
Philippine Sports Commission Chair John Patrick C Gregorio praised the partnership for empowering the next generation of competitors.
