Hana Bank has officially opened its new representative office in the Philippines to expand its business network across Southeast Asia, as reported by DigitalToday.

The opening ceremony took place on 5 June 2026 within the Subic Bay Freeport Zone.

The event welcomed officials from the South Korean embassy, the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority, and the local unit of HD Hyundai Heavy Industries.

Subic operates as a special economic zone located approximately 100 kilometres northwest of Manila.

The area houses the Philippine unit of HD Hyundai Heavy Industries, which recently upgraded its local shipyard facilities.

The maritime company commenced comprehensive shipbuilding operations at the Subic location during the second half of 2025.

Hana Bank plans to use the new Subic location to meet the corporate financing requirements of HD Hyundai Heavy Industries.

The financial institution will also strengthen its service offerings for South Korean expatriates and local customers residing in the area.

Management intends to extend these financial services to the neighbouring Clark region to further broaden its domestic footprint.

Kim Young-jun, Deputy Head of the Global Group at Hana Bank, described the launch as part of a longer term growth strategy.

Kim stated that the institution will deliver closely integrated financial services to both corporate entities and individual clients operating locally.
