Ever wondered how much the people running the Philippines’ biggest banks actually get paid?
The Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI), Metrobank and BDO Unibank disclosed a combined PHP 928.77 million in compensation for their top executive teams in 2025.
BPI reported the largest pool at PHP 392.12 million, followed by Metrobank at PHP 306.13 million and BDO at PHP 230.52 million.
These are team totals rather than individual salaries.
Philippine bank filings group the President or CEO together with several other highly paid executives, so the disclosures do not show exactly what Jose Teodoro “TG” K. Limcaoco (the President and CEO of BPI), Fabian S. Dee (the President and CEO of Metrobank) or Nestor V. Tan (President and CEO of BDO Unibank) personally received.
The 2025 compensation figures appear in the banks’ 2026 Definitive Information Statements, filed the following year with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
So, How Much Did the Philippines’ Big Three Banks Pay Their Top Executives in 2025?
Last Updated: 22 July 2026
BPI disclosed the largest compensation pool at PHP 392.12 million, although its figure covers six executives against five each at Metrobank and BDO.
Once headcount is factored in, the difference between BPI and Metrobank becomes much smaller. Their disclosed totals average roughly PHP 65.4 million per executive at BPI, PHP 61.2 million at Metrobank and PHP 46.1 million at BDO.
These are simple averages rather than what any individual executive actually earned.
Their pay structures also looked quite different. Bonuses made up almost half of BPI’s package, compared with about 11% at Metrobank. BDO disclosed only a combined amount and did not separate salaries from bonuses.
Profit followed a different order. BDO earned PHP 87.2 billion in 2025, ahead of BPI’s PHP 66.62 billion and Metrobank’s PHP 49.72 billion. BDO also ended the year as the Philippines’s largest bank by total resources.
1. Six Executives Share BPI’s PHP 392.12 Million Disclosure
President and CEO Jose Teodoro “TG” K. Limcaoco leads the six-person executive group (including himself) covered by BPI’s disclosure.
BPI executive compensation for 2025 reached PHP 392.12 million, comprising PHP 202.71 million in salaries and PHP 189.41 million in bonuses.
In other words, bonuses accounted for close to half of the disclosed pool.
The bank also posted record net income of PHP 66.62 billion, up 7.4% year-on-year, while return on equity stood at 14.5%.
2. Salary Makes Up Almost 90% of Metrobank’s Disclosed Total
Metrobank disclosed PHP 306.13 million in compensation for President and CEO Fabian S. Dee and four other top executives.
Salary accounted for most of the package at PHP 271.55 million, while bonuses came to PHP 34.58 million.
Metrobank recorded PHP 49.72 billion in attributable net income for 2025. Total consolidated assets reached PHP 3.88 trillion, with return on average equity at 12.3%.
Despite BPI’s much larger headline compensation pool, averaging the totals across the executives covered leaves only around PHP 4.2 million between the two banks per person.
3. BDO Unibank Pays the Least, Despite Earning the Most
BDO disclosed PHP 230.52 million in combined compensation for President and CEO Nestor V. Tan and four other top executives.
Unlike BPI and Metrobank, BDO did not separately disclose salary and bonus amounts for the group.
The bank nevertheless led the three by a wide margin on profit. Net income reached a record PHP 87.2 billion in 2025, up 6% from the previous year, while return on common equity stood at 14.4%.
BDO closed the year with PHP 5.43 trillion in total resources, and its annual report identifies it as the country’s largest bank by total resources, customer loans, deposits, assets under management and capital.
So while BDO generated the most profit and operated the largest balance sheet of the three, its disclosed executive compensation pool was the smallest.
