BDO Unibank has raised PHP 132 billion from its sixth peso-denominated ASEAN Sustainability Bond issue, as reported by the Manila Times.
The amount was more than 26 times the original PHP 5 billion offer.
This makes it the largest single corporate bond issuance in Philippine history, surpassing BDO’s own previous record of PHP 115 billion set in July 2025.
Strong demand from both retail and institutional investors prompted BDO to close the offer period early on 10 July. That was just a day after the bonds launched, well ahead of the original 21 July deadline.
The bonds carry a 1.5-year tenor and a fixed coupon rate of 6.26% per annum. BDO issued, settled, and listed them on 28 July.
Net proceeds will finance or refinance eligible assets under BDO’s Sustainable Finance Framework.
They will also support the bank’s lending activities and diversify its funding sources.
ING Bank N.V., Manila Branch served as sole arranger and sustainability coordinator. BDO and ING acted as selling agents, while BDO Capital & Investment Corp. served as financial adviser.
The Securities and Exchange Commission confirmed the issuance complies with ASEAN Sustainability Bond Standards.
This marks BDO’s second sustainability bond issuance this year, following a PHP 100 billion raise in January.
Since its first issuance in January 2022, BDO has raised a cumulative PHP 518.7 billion through six sustainability bond offerings.
This issuance was also the Philippine Dealing and Exchange Corp.’s 20th admission for 2026.
That brought the year’s total to PHP 464.3 billion, already surpassing all of 2025’s PHP 454.18 billion.
BDO remains the Philippines’ largest bank by total assets, loans, deposits, and trust funds under management.
It operates close to 2,000 branches and more than 7,700 ATMs nationwide, with 15 international offices across Asia, Europe, North America, and the Middle East.
