Metropolitan Bank & Trust Company (Metrobank) has appointed Anthony Paul C. Yap as Head of the Institutional Banking Sector, effective January 1, 2027, according to Asian Banking & Finance.
He has served as Deputy Sector Head of the Institutional Banking Sector since July 1, supporting a planned leadership transition within the division ahead of taking the top role.
Yap brings 29 years of banking experience spanning trading, treasury, branch banking, corporate banking and overseas banking.
He currently serves as Chairman of ORIX Metro Leasing and Finance, a joint venture between Metrobank and Japan’s ORIX Corp specialising in leasing and financing for movable equipment, and as a Non-Executive Director of Metropolitan Bank (China) Ltd.
Metrobank’s board approved the appointment at its regular meeting on September 16, according to a disclosure filed with the Philippine Securities and Exchange Commission.
The move continues a pattern of structured leadership transitions across Metrobank’s sector heads.
The bank named Renato K. De Borja, Jr. as Head of its Financial & Control Sector in mid-2025 following a similar handover process, and Metrobank ranked among the Philippines’ Tier 3 banks in Forbes’ inaugural World’s Top Performing Banks list published earlier this month.
