The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has announced the appointment of its new commissioner, Rogelio Quevedo. His appointment comes following the passing of his predecessor, Hubert Dominic Guevara, this past March 2024.

SEC chairperson Emilio Aquino extended a warm welcome to his agency’s new commissioner Rogelio, highlighting his extensive experience in corporate law and government service.
“We give our warmest welcome to Atty. Quevedo, whose decades of experience in corporate law and the government service will help the commission navigate new and emerging trends in the business sector.”
Chairperson Emilio stated.
Commissioner Rogelio had previously led the Office of the Government Corporate Counsel (OGCC), the principal legal office for all government-owned or controlled corporations and their subsidiaries.
His service record includes roles in the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System Board, Presidential Management Staff, and Office of the Ombudsman. Before entering government service, Rogelio had a career as a senior executive in a telecommunications company.
Additionally, Rogelio has been a professor in commercial and civil law at the University of the Philippines College of Law and a supervising lawyer at the college’s Office of the Legal Aid. He holds a degree in economics and a law degree from the University of the Philippines, a Master of Laws from Louisiana State University, and a Doctor of the Science of Jurisprudence from Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana.
