Philippines’ fintech platform, GCash, showcased its role in advancing financial inclusion with artificial intelligence (AI) at the 2025 World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland. Representing the nation’s fintech sector, Mynt CEO Martha Sazon participated in the panel “Leaving Asia’s Comfort Zone”.
At the event, she explored the transformative potential of AI in driving economic growth across the region. The panel included policymakers and industry leaders from Singapore, Thailand, China, and the United States.
Martha highlighted GCash’s success in leveraging AI to broaden financial access in the Philippines. This is due to the country being historically known for its low banking penetration. At WEF 2025, Martha highlighted that GCash has enabled underserved Filipinos to access loans and other financial services without traditional documentation or collateral by integrating AI-powered tools like GScore.

She also mentioned that the platform also utilises AI to enhance customer experience and security. It also has helped in employing technologies like facial recognition and generative AI for both external and internal processes.
The panel also discussed AI’s broader potential to elevate the Asia-Pacific region into the “Intelligent Age.” With AI projected to contribute USD $15.7 trillion to the global economy by 2030, the Philippines alone stands to benefit by USD $47 billion annually. Sazon emphasised the importance of balancing technological innovation with public-private collaboration, ethical AI adoption, and workforce upskilling.
This aligns with WEF’s broader theme, “Collaboration for the Intelligent Age,” which underscored the need for collective efforts to navigate economic and societal challenges through innovation.
