GCash’s PocketPay to Help MSMEs Accept Card Payments Easier
It uses "tap on phone" (NFC) technology to turn an Android smartphone into a payment terminal, allowing merchants to accept credit and debit card payments without a separate POS machine.
The solution allows business owners to turn their Android smartphones into payment terminals for credit and debit cards.
Integrated into the GCash for Business application, PocketPay uses the phone’s built-in near-field communication (NFC) or “tap on phone” technology.
This function removes the need for a separate, often costly, point-of-sale (POS) machine. Customers can complete a transaction by simply tapping their card on the merchant’s phone.
Jong Layug, B2B General Manager at GCash Operator Mynt, said the tool is designed for the specific needs of small businesses.

“Digital tools have to work with how MSMEs live and operate, and for many of them, that means operating on lean budgets and fast turnarounds,” Jong stated.
He added that the goal is to provide “simpler and more affordable digital payment solutions”.
The feature allows merchants to track sales via the app and receive settlements faster. It is particularly suited for mobile businesses, such as pop-up shops or delivery services.
GCash is offering PocketPay with zero fees until 3 December 2025. The company also announced SoundPay, a device that accepts QR payments and provides an audible voice confirmation.
