Maya is now targeting an initial public offering (IPO) in 2027, with chair Manuel V. Pangilinan pushing for a listing in the Philippines even if the company also lists overseas, BusinessWorld reported.
The new timeline pushes back an earlier target of the second half of 2026, Manila Bulletin noted. Maya has not yet announced a final listing structure or schedule.
His comments come a week after the Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE) urged Maya to follow GCash with a Philippines IPO.
PSE President and CEO Ramon Monzon floated a dual listing as a compromise between Pangilinan and Maya’s foreign investors.
Nasdaq, But Also Manila
Pangilinan said he would accept a US listing if Maya’s other shareholders want one.
He has “no objection” to a Nasdaq listing, “but I think there should be a listing here in the Philippines,” he told reporters.
The IPO is meant to raise fresh capital for Maya and give some existing investors a chance to exit.
PLDT and First Pacific together hold 39.6% of Maya, with KKR, Tencent and the International Finance Corporation among its other shareholders.
Learning From Mynt
Pangilinan said Maya is studying the results of the IPO of Mynt, GCash’s parent, which debuted on the PSE this month.
He acknowledged that Maya is smaller than Mynt but said it could still have a successful offering suited to its size.
Maya could be one of two major PLDT-linked listings next year.
PLDT has also moved the IPO of its data centre real estate investment trust, VITRO REIT, to 2027 after postponing a planned October debut.
“Two major companies a year is not so bad,” Pangilinan said, according to InsiderPH.
