Rizal Commercial Banking Corp. (RCBC) has renewed its partnership with Gogolook, the developer of the anti-scam app Whoscall, extending free Whoscall access for eligible customers.
Under a new memorandum of understanding, eligible RCBC depositors and credit cardholders will continue to receive one year of access to Whoscall.
RCBC and Gogolook first launched the partnership in May 2025, when Gogolook also verified RCBC’s official hotline numbers on Whoscall so that calls from the bank show up clearly marked, BusinessWorld reported.
Targeting Bank Impersonation Scams
Scammers increasingly pose as bank representatives and executives, using calls, messages and fake offers or rewards.
Their goal is to trick customers into sharing sensitive information or making transactions that compromise their accounts.
Arniel Vincent B. Ong, President and CEO of RCBC Credit Cards, said fraudsters also target cardholders through phone calls.
These calls are often “disguised as urgent security alerts, card upgrades, or fake reward redemptions aimed at extracting sensitive credentials like OTPs,” he said.
Lito Villanueva
“Digital banking can only reach its full potential when customers have confidence that they are protected as they transact,” said Lito Villanueva, Executive Vice President and Chief Innovations and Inclusion Officer of RCBC.
More Banks Turn to Whoscall
Mel Migriño, Country Head and General Manager of Gogolook Philippines, said combining RCBC’s customer reach with Gogolook’s technology helps clients spot suspicious calls before they lead to compromised information or financial loss.
RCBC is one of several Philippine banks working with Gogolook.
BPI began offering qualified clients 12 months of free Whoscall Premium Basic in August, Manila Bulletin reported.
