Union Bank of the Philippines (UnionBank) will integrate its digital banking subsidiary, UnionDigital Bank, and fintech unit UBX into the parent bank, Daily Tribune told.

UnionBank’s board approved the plan, which still needs approval from the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) and other regulators.

The bank has not announced a completion timeline.

“By integrating UnionDigital and UBX with UnionBank, we are strengthening our digital proposition, creating greater efficiencies, and accelerating our ability to serve more Filipinos at scale,” said UnionBank President and CEO Ana Aboitiz Delgado.

For now, UnionDigital customers can keep using their accounts, deposits, loans and app without interruption.

UnionBank said customers of both units will receive updates throughout the transition and advance notice of any changes.

UnionDigital is one of the seven licensed digital banks in the Philippines. Its app also offers SSS LoanLite microloans to qualified members.

UBX builds fintech products that help businesses extend financial services beyond traditional bank branches, Philstar noted.

UnionBank’s Profit Jumps 53%

The plan comes as UnionBank reported net income of PHP 9.9 billion for the first nine months of 2026, up 53% year on year.

Net revenues rose 8% to PHP 65.5 billion, and its retail customer base passed 19.5 million.

Consumer loans make up 62% of UnionBank’s loan book, nearly three times the industry average.

Chief Financial Officer Manuel Lozano said the bank is building reserves to strengthen its balance sheet amid rising credit pressures.

He added that it will continue to rationalise businesses where resources could create more sustainable long-term value.
